{"id":793,"date":"2022-03-09T17:22:55","date_gmt":"2022-03-09T17:22:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.capitalarchivist.org\/caa\/?p=793"},"modified":"2022-03-09T17:22:55","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T17:22:55","slug":"capital-area-archivists-amended-bylaws-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.capitalarchivist.org\/caa\/?p=793","title":{"rendered":"Capital Area Archivists Amended Bylaws Vote"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ballots to vote on the amended Capital Area Archivists\nBylaws were released on March 9<sup>th<\/sup>, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a vote to amend the existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalarchivist.org\/caa\/?page_id=10\">Capital Area Archivists\nConstitution<\/a> into the new <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1iMNy0hl12mGEK0-Mbk5T7fauswzRjrLkNuW5KUTo0y0\/edit\">Capital\nArea Archivists Bylaws<\/a>. The new Bylaws also reference two supplemental\ndocuments, the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1NmjY35k_ZEooI6-a-PVvoCQHxoSnVWd10ooW_hGL4jg\">Capital\nArea Archivists Code of Conduct<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1xwvQhx9PYNX6_WrVVBx0aevNZExERQdy6wFJgolZ2d8\">Procedures\nfor Responding to Violations of the Code of Conduct<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ballots will remain open for 14 days and close on March 23<\/strong><sup><strong>rd<\/strong><\/sup><strong>, 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you to all who attended the open Zoom call and who provided feedback. We made one change based on the feedback we received. Previously Section 3.1(A) stated that &#8220;any member may be expelled from membership by a majority vote of the Governance Group without referencing any cause.&#8221; This was because it was adapted from Article 7.5 from the existing Constitution which states that &#8220;any Board Member may be removed without referencing a cause.&#8221; Section 3.1(A) has been changed to read that &#8220;members can only be expelled for violations of the Code of Conduct.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve decided to take an expansive interpretation of CAA members, as even with setting dues at $0 for the past two years there are many of you whose membership has technically expired. Thus, we\u2019re sending ballots to the all recent members going back to 2017. There are a few members who we do not have email addresses.
